We are proud to announce that Lisa Brown has been chosen as the 2012 Employee of the Year!
Lisa has been committed to Especially for Pets and our customers ever since she was hired six years ago to work in our Acton store. Since that time, she has been involved in many aspects of the company. Lisa has worked as a sales associate in several stores, served as an assistant store manager, represented the company at various off-site events, and has recently been promoted to Assistant to the Director of Operations and Promotions.
Lisa received this award of excellence for several reasons including her exemplary dedication, self-motivation, and ability to consistently exceed customer service expectations. Lisa takes great pride in Especially for Pets and lives the mission of the company day in and day out. Congratulations!
Westford Police Chief Tom McEnaney welcomed a crowd of volunteers, donors, town officials, and Westford police personnel on November 13 to celebrate the launch of the new Westford Police Department's 2012 K-9 SUV cruiser. Generous contributions of volunteer time and donations, along with town funds helped make this new cruiser a reality.
As the Chief acknowledged, it would not be possible without the community's assistance including Especially for Pets in Sudbury and Acton. Former Sudbury store manager, Erny, made it a personal challenge to help to raise money to keep K-9s safe. She and Acton store manager, Maria, each ran a month-long fundraiser in their respective stores to fund the cruiser kennel and over-heat detector/alarm and remote door popper system. Thanks to all of our customers who participated in our events and their success!
When we put the word out that we were collecting donations for the four-legged victims of the recent disaster in New York and New Jersey, we had no idea the response would be so great! In only four days, we collected eight carloads of pet food and supplies! On November 9, 2012 they were delivered by Animal Shelter Inc. of Sterling's Executive Director, Leigh Grady and her staff.
We were so touched by our customers' reponse and generosity that we decided to make another attempt to help the needy animals. Based upon the suggestion of a Sudbury customer, we created a food matching program. For every bag or case of food that was purchased, Especially for Pets would match it. In 12 days, we collected 4,340 pounds of dog food and 816 cans of cat food which was delivered to shelters in the affected areas.
We appreciate the support of the Especially for Pets community—they truly helped make a difference in the lives of many animals and their families.
Rescue Angels, Inc. is a public non-profit, registered 501(c)(3) charity created to rescue, rehabilitate and find permanent homes for abandoned or homeless dogs that are on the verge of being euthanized. Because they are not a shelter, they rely solely on caring, responsible foster homes, volunteers and donations to help them accomplish their longer-term goal of finding the best permanent home for each of the dogs in their care. With donations raised this year from their nail clipping fundraiser, Especially for Pets has helped to advance their mission.
Each quarter, a different local non-profit organization is chosen to receive customer donations when their pets’ nails are clipped at any Especially for Pets’ seven store locations. For the second quarter of this year, $9,167 was raised. The check was presented to Rescue Angels founder Vickie Hess at Especially for Pets’ Newton store on September 14 when new owners met their new canine family members adopted from Rescue Angels.
