Each quarter, the staff at Especially for Pets volunteers their time to clip the nails of customers’ pets in exchange for a donation to a local shelter.

The recipient for the third quarter of 2004 was Animal Shelter Inc. of Sterling who recently received a donation for $2,632 – thank you Especially for Pets’ customers!

Executive Director Leigh Grady said "Our shelter is proud to be affiliated with Especially for Pets and it’s wonderful to see a pet store that is SO rescue and shelter friendly – a pet store with a conscience.

Always in the holiday spirit of giving, our customers certainly did their share in helping to support local breed rescue organizations. During November and December, we held 21 fundraising events for the following animal related charities:

LisaSantaanddonationA big thank you to our customers for their generosity to Baypath Humane Society during the months of October through December. Almost $6,000 in food, treats, supplies and cash was raised for this non-profit organization!  We had donation bins in all stores accepting toys and treats for the Giving Tree Promotion in December and Baypath was the recipient of our free nail clipping services for the months of October, November and December.

Thanks to Especially for Pets’ generous customers, it was no ordinary holiday for the forgotten pets spending the holidays in the Animal Rescue League of Boston adoption centers. On December 29, Santa arrived to help his four-footed friends welcome in the New Year with over 200 toys purchased and donated by caring Especially for Pets’ customers.

Especially for Pets was proud to present a donation of $2,800 to the Noble Family Animal Care and Adoption Center at MSPCA Nevins Farm in Methuen on February 24, 2005. This was the result of all monies collected from in-store nail clipping services for the second quarter of 2004. The recipient, Mike Keiley, MSPCA Manager of Animal Care and Adoption Center at Nevins Farm said:  “We are incredibly grateful for the thoughtful donation made to us by Especially for Pets. We have enjoyed a working relationship with EFP over the years, and this collaboration has helped countless animals find new, permanent homes.
