The Committee to Protect Dogs has launched a campaign to get a measure on the 2006 ballot to pass the Dog Protection Act which will enact stronger penalties for abusing law enforcement or service dogs, authorize law enforcement authorities to seize dog fighting paraphernalia and breeding dogs, and phase out greyhound racing by 2008. 110,000 signatures are needed; the deadline is November 20th. Petitions are available at each of our stores.

Dear Amy,

On behalf of the Board of Directors for Commonwealth Cats, Inc., I would like to thank you and your colleagues at Especially for Pets for the generous donation of $2,598.00 to Commonwealth Cats from your nail clipping program. These funds will allow us to spay, neuter and vaccinate many cats who would not otherwise receive veterinary care.

(Newton, Massachusetts) Especially for Pets, a Massachusetts pet food and supply company with stores located in Acton, Medway, Newton, Sudbury, Wayland and Westborough (winner of 1999 Retailer of the Year by the Retailer’s Association of Massachusetts) is proud to announce Lauren Cordeiro as 2005 Employee of the Year.

Especially for Pets’ Newton location hosted a Wednesday’s Child taping on November 29, 2005. Wednesday’s Child is a weekly news segment hosted by Jack Williams of CBS4 Boston that features a child or sibling group awaiting adoption.

The Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) contacted us requesting we be the site for ten year old Carlos’ taping since he loves animals and is interested in learning about dog training.

We are pleased to announce that a total of $7,221 in food, treats, supplies and cash was donated to the following local non-profit organizations during the month of December:

  • Animal Rescue League of Boston
  • Baypath Humane Society
  • Boxers of Need of New England
  • Lucky Star Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Rescue
  • Northeastern Boxer Rescue
