Portland, Maine (January, 2008) – As part of their ongoing campaign to encourage adoption and reduce the number of pets euthanized each year, Planet Dog has created the Adoption Champion Award (ACA).  The award supports, encourages and rewards Planet Dog retailers who "romp the extra mile" when it comes to social responsibility, philanthropy and advocacy for pet adoption.

"Trainer to the Stars" Brings Lessons for Both Dog and Owner

Saturday, March 15 was a snowy, rainy, all-to-familiar New England morning. However, spirits were bright at Especially for Pets in Sudbury as Brian Kilcommons, dog trainer to stars and author of best selling dog training books, took the stage to amaze and enlighten the eager crowd of 80. Kilcommons’ demonstrated the importance of the bond between pets and their owners in many instances correcting owner behavior over dog behavior!

Through the continued support of Especially for Pets, the event raised $2100 in donations for the MSPCA-Angell’s General Fund. The General Fund provides monetary resources for all of the MSPCA-Angell’s adoption centers, hospitals and programs.

The votes are in, the ballots have been counted, and Especially for Pets is a winner!  Community Newspaper Company (CNC) readers have spoken, and we have been selected as a winner in 10 categories in CNC’s Reader’s Choice Awards 2008 for Best Pet Shop.
