We are opening our 8th store in Lakeway Commons on Route 9 in Shrewsbury! Our newly designed store will feature our second Day School and introduce our new Wellness Services!
If you are from Shrewsbury, or anywhere in Massachusetts, you might be familiar where the former Spag's, the iconic discount store, stood. Now home to Lakeway Commons, it is a mixed-use development that includes retail, restaurants and residences. There will even be a bronze memorial to Spag's owner Anthony "Spag" Borgatti near the center of the plaza.
In true Especially for Pets fashion, we will continue to offer you high quality foods and products and compassionate and individualized service. Our team is dedicated to responsible pet care and committed to the wellness of your pet.
Watch for details!
Please keep your pets indoors in the early afternoon on Monday, August 21 during the total solar eclipse. Any pet outside that looks up can suffer the same retinal damage as humans, up to and including blindness.
Just over a year ago, we were fortunate to begin a partnership with the Buddy Dog Humane Society in efforts to promote rescue dogs and the importance of obedience training. Located just down the street from our Sudbury location, it was our intent to offer obedience classes to the shelter in hopes that enrollment in class would increase chances of adoption. We are proud to say that since the inception of the partnership, 19 dogs have gone through the Especially for Pets' training program and the vast majority were adopted before they finished a training session! These classes have been such a fun and engaging way for the staff and volunteers at Buddy Dog to learn about obedience training and to spend some necessary one-on-one time with the dogs.
As a responsible pet owner, you need to be aware of how the warm weather can impact your pet and the extra precautions you can take to keep him safe and happy.
- Never leave your pet unattended in a parked car for an extended period of time. On a warm day, even in the shade with windows cracked, the temperature in a car can reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit in a matter of minutes. Your pet can quickly suffer brain damage or die from heatstroke or suffocation when trapped in high temperatures.
On the heels of a hugely successful inaugural event last year, the second annual Fast and Furriest 5K: Run. Walk. Wag was held on Sunday, May 21. Once again, we were proud sponsors of this great event! We had a really special morning with old and new friends at Sylvester Baxter Park at Assembly Row in Somerville and truly enjoyed the dog and family-friendly community event. Over 1,500 participants enjoyed a beautiful run and walk route along the Mystic river with over 750 dogs in a festival-like atmosphere. Best of all $185,000 was raised to benefit the animals served by the MSPCA-Angell in their adoption centers, hospitals and programs.
