(Newton) Especially for Pets is celebrating 25 years in business by giving back to the community. They ran an eight-month campaign offering five local animal rescue groups and shelters the opportunity to win thousands of dollars. From February through September, Especially for Pets’ customers made donations to the MATCH 25 Rescue/Shelter Fund and the company, which originally planned to match it dollar for dollar, decided to double their contribution, bringing the total to $25,000.

breanna 1Breanna Leonard joined Especially for Pets in Canton in 2010 after leaving an unethical situation at a previous job at a dog boarding/daycare facility where the owner was mistreating the animals. Breanna spent the next year trying tirelessly to have the facility closed down. Canton Store Manager Bonnie Chepovsky knew immediately that Breanna’s passion about animals was genuine and that she would be a great addition to the Especially for Pets family.

Breanna works as a customer service associate and obedience trainer. She owns five rescue dogs and is currently fostering two. Breanna offers a great deal of her free time helping train rescue dogs; she rehabilitates foster pit bulls and then finds homes for them. Breanna exemplifies the Especially for Pets’ mission by being extremely knowledgeable, providing outstanding customer service, and having a passion for pets. Congratulations!

lrr donation photoLabrador Retriever Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to placing purebred Labrador Retrievers in suitable, loving, permanent homes.  With customer donations raised from last quarter’s nail clipping fundraiser, Especially for Pets has helped to advance their mission to help homeless Labrador Retrievers.

Since 1988, Labrador Retriever Rescue has helped place about 2,000 Labs in permanent homes. They service Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Maine. LRR, Inc. provides foster care, veterinary care, and basic training for the Labradors in their adoption program.   They do not accept any dog that has a history of biting or aggressive behavior.  Before being rehomed, all Labs are neutered or spayed and brought up-to-date medically, if needed.
