lrr donation photoLabrador Retriever Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to placing purebred Labrador Retrievers in suitable, loving, permanent homes.  With customer donations raised from last quarter’s nail clipping fundraiser, Especially for Pets has helped to advance their mission to help homeless Labrador Retrievers.

Since 1988, Labrador Retriever Rescue has helped place about 2,000 Labs in permanent homes. They service Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Maine. LRR, Inc. provides foster care, veterinary care, and basic training for the Labradors in their adoption program.   They do not accept any dog that has a history of biting or aggressive behavior.  Before being rehomed, all Labs are neutered or spayed and brought up-to-date medically, if needed.

Each quarter, a different local non-profit organization is chosen to receive customer donations when their pets’ nails are clipped at any of Especially for Pets’ seven store locations. For the fourth quarter of last year, $,557 was raised. Yesterday the much-appreciated donation check was presented to Judy Wolff, LRR, Inc. President and her 10 year old rescue from LRR, Scrappy, by a few members of the Acton staff, including Cindy Reilly, groomer, and Matt Magee, assistant store manager.

Judy Wolff, President, expressed her gratitude: “Thank you again for selecting Lab Rescue for the nail clippings donations, and for all the support you've given Lab Rescue over the years. The donation will be used to provide foster and veterinary care for senior Labs who have been surrendered to Lab Rescue.” Learn more about Labrador Retriever Rescue at
