Especially for Pets in the Community
The Adoption Initiative
Especially for Pets has teamed up with local non-profits and rescue
organizations to promote pets available for adoption as well as to raise
awareness about the work being done in the rescue community. It is our
ultimate goal to educate our customers about what the specific
organizations do, to collect donations for their use and, ultimately to
help the organizations to place homeless animals in permanent, loving
homes.
Each
Especially for Pets store has partnered with a different local non-profit
from January through June. You can visit our stores to check out the
Adoption Board to see photos of the animals available for adoption and/or
pick up a copy of their Wish List and make a donation to support the
organization of your choice.

Acton & Greyhound Friends

Greyhound Friends Inc., located in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, is a
small non-profit organization dedicated to saving racetrack greyhounds and
placing them in responsible loving homes. Greyhounds passing through their
kennel have gentle dispositions and make wonderful companions. Since its
inception in 1983, Greyhound Friends has found homes for more than 6000
dogs! They maintain a kennel for twenty greyhounds and as soon as a dog is
adopted, another one comes in from a racing kennel. Greyhound Friends
relies on volunteers who help with all aspects of the work. You can also
support Greyhound Friends by becoming a member and volunteering.

Medway &
Milford Humane Society

The Milford
Humane Society is an all-volunteer, non-profit, no-kill shelter for stray
and abandoned cats. First organized in September 1990 to fill a need in
the community, they help to care and find homes for the ever-increasing
number of homeless cats that exist in the local area. These cats survive
by scrounging in dumpsters for food and finding shelter wherever possible.
The motto of the Milford Humane Society is to share the gift of
unconditional love with as many cats and kittens as possible.
The
Milford Humane Society is one of the few in their area that works with
stray, abandoned and feral cats and kittens. Admission to their facility
is limited to Milford and the surrounding towns and is based upon need and
space limitations. Their programs are made possible by the donations of
time and money from caring people who provide the funding that keeps their
doors open.

Newton & Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue

Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue has rescued over 800 Cavaliers since they were
incorporated in 2000 and were granted the IRS status of a nonprofit
charitable organization - 501(C)(3). Their mission is to rescue and
protect the breed which they all so dearly love. Donations are always
welcomed and will be used to purchase Cavaliers and provide health care.
The dogs are given the proper veterinary care and are then placed in
foster homes to assess their individual personalities. Once they are
certain they understand the needs of a particular dog, they then begin
looking for a permanent home that is just right for him or her.

Kitty Angels is an all-volunteer organization and relies completely on
adoption fees and the tax-deductible contributions of private individuals.
This past year has been an exceptional strain on their finances. Not only
have many more cats come through their doors than usual, but many of them
have had serious medical problems requiring expensive care. All of this
has put them deeply in debt. Please consider making a tax-deductible
donation today, and if you can offer a bit extra, they and the cats would
very much appreciate it. Every penny of your donation goes to care of the
cats.

donations go the furthest in helping, as Kitty Angels get discounts on

Medical Supplies they have many cats that are on medication for
diabetes, heart problems, thyroid issues, etc. Supplies of insulin,
syringes, fluids, tapazole, heart medications, in addition to any and all
other medications would be much appreciated.

Prescription Foods they have many cats on prescription foods, so if you
have some that you are no longer using, please donate it.
- Cat Food a high quality and consistent brand of cat food is
preferred for many health reasons. The shelter cats eat both dry and
canned of Iams, Nutro, Science Diet, Innova, and Eukanuba,
although any and all cat food donations are welcome.

Serving
their community
for over 30 years, Baypath was incorporated in 1977 as a tax-exempt, not
for profit corporation. They rely solely on generous contributions from
you and their business community and do not receive funding from
government agencies, local or federal.
The mission of Baypath is to facilitate the placement of stray and
unwanted animals in desirable homes; to establish and maintain an animal
shelter and associated procedures which provide health, care and adoption
of these animals; and to educate adopters and the local public on proper
pet care and handling, over population and the prevention of cruelty to
animals.
