Dear Erny:

On behalf of the entire Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, I am writing to express my sincere thanks for your donations that are providing bullet-/stab-protective vests for our police dogs.

Our K-9 unit plays a crucial role in our efforts to make Middlesex County a safer place to live for it’s 1.9 million residents.  Whether it’s searching for narcotics or apprehending suspects, our dogs often work in difficult, dangerous situations.  Your donation makes their jobs a safer one.

Often, efforts to protect public safety officials in the line of duty are focused on out uniformed men and women.  Your contribution shows that you realize that our police dogs risk their lives alongside our officers each and every day, and that they deserve the same level of protection that their human counterparts enjoy.

It is my understanding that the Massachusetts Vest-a-Dog program has donated over 50 protective vests to K-9 units all over the state.  You should be commended for your contribution to this important effort.

Again, on behalf of the entire Sheriff’s Department – and especially on behalf of our police dogs, including Corbo – I thank you for these vests.

Very truly yours,

James V. DiPaola
Middlesex Sheriff
