ACTON PET STORE STAFF HONORED FOR WORK IN FINDING HOMES FOR CATS

ACTON – Recently the staff of Especially for Pets and manager, Amy Lord were recognized by the MSPCA Animal Shelter at Nevins Farm in Methuen for their efforts to help find loving homes for cats and kittens. The offsite adoption program has existed for three years and during this time approximately 200 adoptions have been done at the store.

The award was given in recognition of the highest number of adoptions year to date. During the 2001 season, 64 cats and kittens were adopted.

‘Relationships like these enable us to make a real difference for animals,’ said Jean Weber, director of the Nevins Farm shelter. The success of the program is due to the team effort led by Lisa Forbes and Tracie Looney, staff at the MSPCA; Jan Bober, MSPCA Adoption Volunteer and Amy Lord of Especially for Pets.

The shelter brings cats and kittens awaiting homes to the store in Acton on the third Saturday of each month. Cat adoptions are $95 and include FVRCP vaccine, general wormer, micro chipping as well as receiving a certificate for their spay or neuter surgery and rabies vaccine, a collar, tag and carry box to go home. Adopters also receive a 10 percent discount at the store on all purchases for one month after adoption.
