  • “Very courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. The store was busy at the time, but she still had time to spend with me, and did not rush me out, and also got to the other customer as soon as I was through. I also asked for an item I had previously seen in the store, and she found it for me immediately.” - Karen P.

Greeting Manners
Does your friendly dog greet people with too much excitement? Does he jump up instead of politely sit when someone approaches him or comes into your home? This workshop will help you solve this common problem by teaching you to encourage your dog to remain seated and calm when he is approached for a greeting.

Loose Leash Walking & Equipment Workshop
Do you walk your dog or does your dog walk you? Are there so many different equipment choices and opinions that you don't know where to start? Struggling with leash control is a very common problem, but it doesn't have to be! This workshop will help you find the right, individualized, most effective equipment and teach you the appropriate techniques to help you better communicate with and control your dog. We will demonstrate and discuss a variety of training tools and help you choose the best option for you and your dog, and ensure the equipment is fit properly and you are well versed in how to use it. We will work with you and your dog to help establish good handling and to teach your dog how to walk politely. It will soon become a pleasure, not a chore, to walk your dog.

Newly Adopted Dog
Dogs who have been through the stresses associated with abandonment, neglect, multiple homes, lost or stray, and then finally brought into a shelter or rescue, have a very specific set of needs. This unique training opportunity is designed specifically to address their adjustment and transition, as well as the establishment of a positive relationship for these newly adopted dogs and their families. In contrast to traditional obedience classes, this program will focus on behavior adjustments, establishing clear communication and leadership, and creating a solid foundation for future learning. Our goal will be for families to have a clear understanding of their new dog's mental and emotional state during this transition period; from the first homecoming through the honeymoon period, and to also recognize the common pitfalls and mistakes new adopters often encounter. Classes will include in-depth discussion and problem solving, as well as hands-on training. This class is offered in cooperation with our shelter partners and is for dogs six months and over who have been adopted within three months.

Prerequisite: None

Play & Train (All Ages)
This class is a combination of our popular fun playgroup and the skills taught in our more advanced classes. It will be primarily off lead and alternate between play, commands and behavior-based training. We will practice initial control and appropriate greeting when meeting another dog; appropriate and fun play, disengaging from play; and responding to a variety of commands including recalls, attention and stays. It is intended for dogs that already have a working knowledge of basic commands whose handler would like to take the next step to off lead training while giving their dog the opportunity to exercise and play in a safe, indoor environment. Dogs must be non-aggressive and well socialized with other dogs.

Prerequisite: Graduate Puppy or Intermediate

Reliable Recall / Coming When Called
This class will focus on teaching your dog to come to you, no matter the distraction. Designed for dogs six months and over, you will learn how to build your dog’s DESIRE to come. We will focus on building positive associations towards this sometimes difficult command. As skills are built, distractions will be added and intensified. You will have weekly  “homework” that includes practicing skills outdoors. Your dog will even learn how to come from play with other dogs!
